Essential oils for headache relief
Essential oils are concentrated liquids extracted from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots or other elements of the plant. Aromatherapy often involves essential oils that can provide health benefits such as reducing stress and improving blood circulation through sensory stimulation.
Essential oils can even help treat certain conditions like headaches or migraines, or have different benefits and often don't have the side effects of prescription medications.

Essential oils must be diluted with base oils such as coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil or jojoba oil before use. Essential oils are never applied directly to the skin or eaten.
1. Peppermint essential oil:
Peppermint has been used as a substitute for many medicines for thousands of years. It is one of the most popular essential oils for headache treatment.
A 2015 review of published studies of essential oils said that applying peppermint oil in gel form to your temples and forehead helps relieve tension headaches and migraines.
2. Eucalyptus essential oil:
Traditionally, Eucalyptus, or eucalyptus, is used to clear sinuses and reduce inflammation. People with a sinus headache can inhale eucalyptus oil to relieve their symptoms.
Research shows eucalyptus essential oil is effective for relieving pain and lowering blood pressure when inhaled.
3. Rosemary essential oil:
There is very little research on rosemary essential oils as an effective headache treatment. However, a 2008 study found that rosemary essential oil had anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Another study from 2013 found that rosemary essential oil helped reduce pain and insomnia in people undergoing opioid addiction treatment.
4. Lavender essential oil:
Lavender is commonly used to help people sleep well and relieve stress, anxiety or depression.
Many believe it can help relieve tension headaches and migraines.
A 2012 study found that inhaling lavender essential oil could be a safe and effective treatment for migraine control.
5. Ginger Essential Oil:
You probably already know that ginger can be powerful in fighting nausea. But ginger essential oil is also a powerful anti-inflammatory that can help relieve pain.
A 2018 review of studies found that ginger is not only effective in migraine treatment, but also increases the effectiveness of the heart's pumping process, which may protect against bad cholesterol, has anti-inflammatory effects. Oxidants may have anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial roles.
